“An attorney must wear two hats: One of the champion and one of the counselor.  An attorney who fails to fill both roles provides only half of the representation the client deserves.”

Roy J. Smith, IV, a partner/shareholder with Weiss Legal Group, P.A. has been with the firm since 2003.  Roy dedicates his practice to the representation of consumers and accident victims in the State of Florida as well as the representation of clients in family law matters.  In 2010 he was designated a “Rising Star” by Florida Super Lawyers.

Roy was born in Wauchula, Florida, but spent his formative years in North and South Carolina, graduating from Fort Mill High School in 1993.  Roy went on to graduate from Nova Southeastern University with highest honors and served as the president of (AX) Alpha Chi honors fraternity. In May 2000 he graduated with honors from The University of Florida College of Law where he served as the Senior Articles Editor and Chief Judicial Panelist of the Florida Law Review.  Roy was also the recipient of both the “Frank E. Maloney Award for Outstanding Candidate” and the “Gertrude Brick Award for Outstanding Board Member” from the Florida Law Review.

Upon graduating from law school, Roy moved to the Orlando area.  After three years practicing in the realm of medical malpractice defense, he joined Weiss Legal Group, P.A.

Roy is a proud member of the Central Florida Family Law Inn of Court, certified with the Collaborative Family Law Group of Central Florida, a member of the Florida Justice Association, and has had the opportunity to lecture on several occasions regarding the representation of automobile accident victims as well as the developing field of Collaborative Family Law.

In 2009 he was honored with Nova Southeastern University’s Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award from the Farquhar College of Arts and Sciences.

Roy and his wife have three daughters.  He is a parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, where he volunteers his time through the Parish Attorney Program.  He is also a member of the Jewish Community Center as well as an active member of the Maitland Chamber of Commerce, and Business Network International (B.N.I.).  Roy also heads the firm’s “hands-on” involvement in several local charities including the Weiss Legal Group Community Project
