After serving as a trial attorney in two other prominent litigation firms, Thomas Player joined Weiss Legal Group, P.A. in February 2002.

Tom’s practice includes Appeals in all Florida State Courts, Entertainment, Business, Intellectual Property, Foreclosure Defense, and First-Party Insurance Litigation.

Tom is active in the Entertainment, Arts, & Sports Law Section of the Florida Bar, the Central Florida Trial Lawyers Association, and is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (the Grammy Awards), The Florida Bar, the Seminole County Bar Association, and the Florida Justice Association.

Tom was recognized by his peers as the number one entertainment attorney in Central Florida for the Orlando Business Journal’s 2006 & 2007 Annual “Best of the Bar” which recognizes attorneys at the top of their areas of practice. Tom was also chosen by his peers as one of Florida Trend magazine’s Florida Legal Elite for 2009.

Tom has lectured at continuing legal education seminars for the Florida Justice Association and the Entertainment, Arts, & Sports Law Section of the Florida Bar and has been a panelist on the Florida Music Festival’s forum on legal issues in the music business. Tom sponsored, hosted, and moderated all of the industry panels for the 2009 Florida Music Festival. Tom also regularly guest-lectures at Barry Law School, and at Full Sail University’s Master of Entertainment Business class “Advanced Entertainment Negotiations”, and has served as a panelist/ judge for the Full Sail University Bachelor of Entertainment Business degree candidates final “capstone” presentations.

Tom also plays bass guitar and did so professionally for many years. His experiences as a professional musician have given him considerable insight into the music business and an appreciation of the industry from the musician’s perspective.

Tom obtained his bachelors degree in Finance from the University of South Florida, and was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity. Following completion of his undergraduate degree in 1993, Tom earned his Law Degree and a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Finance, both from the University of Florida, and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1998.

During his graduate studies, Tom clerked for a prominent Gainesville personal injury firm, and served as Chief Defense Counsel for the University of Florida Student Honor Court. In law school, Tom was a member of the Phi Delta Phi legal honors fraternity, and earned a coveted “book award” for obtaining the top grade in his Negotiation class.
