Kevin B. Weiss is the managing attorney for Weiss Legal Group, P.A. Mr. Weiss founded the firm in 1999 to provide quality legal services in the areas of personal injury, worker’s compensation and insurance disputes. Under his leadership, Weiss Legal Group, P.A. has grown to four lawyers and a legal support staff of seven. Additionally, the firm’s areas of practice now include corporate and entertainment law, family and divorce law, foreclosure defense, collections law, and appeals. Kevin currently spends much of his time handling civil appeals in Florida’s state courts. He has handled over 200 civil appeals in Florida’s appellate courts.
Kevin has been the recipient of several awards related to his legal abilities. In 2005, Kevin was recognized by his peers as being in the top 10% of attorneys in his practice area in the Best of the Bar survey conducted by the Orlando Business Journal. The 2006 Orlando Business Journal survey honored Kevin with being in the top 5% of attorneys practicing in Central Florida. In 2007, Kevin was honored as the “Best of the Bar” by the Orlando Business Journal. The business newspaper featured Kevin on the front page in a story entitled, “Attorney Kevin Weiss known as the go-to guy for appeals.”Recently, in 2009, Kevin was recognized in the Florida Legal Elite edition of Florida Trend magazine as being one of the State’s Legal Leaders. Kevin is active in the American Association for Justice, the Central Florida Trial Lawyers Association, and the Orlando PIP Plaintiffs Association. He also serves as a member of the Florida Justice Association and serves on its insurance committee. Kevin was raised in Longwood, Florida, attended local schools, and graduated from Lake Brantley High School. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida, Kevin worked in education and politics, spending time in New York City, Jerusalem, Israel, and Washington, D.C. Kevin also studied history and archaeology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Mr. Weiss began law school at Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Delaware and attended the University of Florida College of Law for his third year of law school. While in law school, Kevin served on the Widener Law Review (the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law) and clerked at the Delaware Supreme Court for Justice Joseph T. Walsh. He also received “book awards” for obtaining the top grades in criminal law and family law. At graduation, the Dean of the law school presented Kevin with the prestigious Judge J. Cullen Ganey Criminal Law Award. Kevin volunteers his time and legal experience by serving as an officer and board member of the Windsong Community Association, Inc. in Winter Park, Florida. He also serves as a legal advisor to the Hebrew Day School of Central Florida in Maitland. In May of 2007, Kevin was elected to represent the Jewish Community Center of Greater Orlando as its President of the Board of Directors. Kevin served for two years and in May of 2009 was awarded the prestigious Jewish Community Leadership Award. Kevin resides in Winter Park, Florida. He and his wife Rona have been married for 15 years and are the proud parents of Shira (10), Jordan (7), and Ari (21 months).
